   The Surgeon’s Loop. It allows the lure to maintain it’s natural motion and not be stuck in one place which will get you more strikes. I’ll leave a website to show how to tie that and other knots. Good luck fishin’!

   I quite often use a snap swivel. But I also use a polomar knot for braided line and an improved cinch for mono. Hope this helps.

   The surgeon’s loop is great for many bass lures! (Thumbs Fishin’ For Walleye) but i favor the palomar knot for soft plastics (AKA lizards, worms, etc.). I currently only tie two different knots for bass lures, the surgeon’s loop & the palomar. Here’s what i like for each lure -

   Crankbait – Surgeon’s loop.

   Spinnerbait – Palomar.

   Soft plastics (or anything that involves tying the line to a hook NOT a lure) – Palomar.

   Buzz bait – Palomar.

   In-line spinner – (not really a bass lure but hell) Surgeon’s loop.

   Jig – Palomar.

   As you see, the Palomar knot leads over the Surgeon’s loop because of it’s strength.

   My favorite by far for everything is the Palomar, it’s quick easy to tie and holds very well you will never break the line at the knot with this tying. Guaranteed.

   It is better to not use a swivel.

   Palomar knot is the strongest knot out there. For the Rapala, there is also the Rapala knot which is supposed to not hinder the action of crankbaits.

   The improved clinch is a very easy knot to tie and has worked a long time for me, but I recently switched to the palomar due to losing a couple lures from knots breaking.
