As far as I know, ...
As far as I know, this knot is the most common way to snell a hook to a line. The finished knot works very much like a Clinch knot works-- all the wraps cinch down and lock the tag end in securely. If there is a better way to tie a Snell Knot, let me know. I'd hate to lose fish for people that are using our knot!!

would it be ...
would it be stronger if you did a clinch knot with a bunch of the leftover tag end? that way you'd have a knot on the shank and on the line about the hook.
