The Palomar Knot is … The Palomar Knot is really strong that last loop around the object gives it so much strength I love it. I use it on alarge drop loop I tie 3 of them using the drop loop to make the end of a palomar knot to put extra hooks on one fishing line. and at the very end of the string I use a snell Knot.

I would really like to know how you can measure a knot strength when it is stronger than the actual line you are tying.
You tie the knot apply strain something gives say its the line how do you then measure just how much strength is left in the knot?
It is a well known fact that when you tie a knot in line or rope you have introduced a weakness and that is at the knot.
The 150% must be an American claim, absolutely typical for the yanks to grossly over exaggerate everything
i had the same … i had the same thing happen saltwater fishing from my kayak. big fish just stole the hook off the line. me off first bite of the day too.
The only problem … The only problem with the way he tied the palomar knot… when you cinch the knot closed, pull on the tag end. NOT the line end. With light line, if you cinch it with the line end, it will cause the line to curl right at the head of the bait. If you are crappie fishing or something like that, it makes for a horrible presentation. My two cents.
that sucks, i’ve … that sucks, i’ve only caught a few bass that big in my life in a state known for great salt and freshwater fishing..anyways, that 2nd knot isn’t shit..only about 70% line strength..the strongest line to lure knots are the first one (palomar) and the 6-turn san diego jam is the strongest..i recently learned that one because its up to 150% line strength and it sucks trying to put the loop of a palomar knot over a 4-6 inch snook lure with treble hooks
i just lost a 6 to … i just lost a 6 to 8 pound largemouth using the second knot…the one that has done so well for me in the past…i wanted to break shit…..my first fish after 6 hrs of fishing.
For the clinch knot … For the clinch knot, I like to put the line through twice, forming a small loop next to the lure, then when you pass the tag end back through, the tag end goes inside TWO loops and you cinch it up the same way.
well first of all, … well first of all, i can master this knot easily. I am not like the last two or three world generations who make opinions without trying it. I can tie almost every fishing knot there is, way more than you for sure, and say this not sucks from experience of having the biggest king salmon Ive ever had on, lost due to a break in this gay knot. the salmon was around 70lbs. So i changed it to a double T jagger knot, and caught a 65 lbs king salmon with no flaws in my knot at all. Fuckinass
