the key is to give … the key is to give yourself plenty of line to work with and practice with bigger line and a pencil. How about showing a … How about showing a clip on how to do a sliding hook + a snell hook on the end. 2 hook rig for Pilchards that has the top hook as a slider, a very firm slider.
This is a great vid … This is a great vid I always snell my hooks and when I saw that this vid shows you how to tie on with only one tag end, I tried it on a straightened large paper clip with 4lb 12lb 15lb 20lb 25lb 45lb 50lb and60lb line,
I could not pull the knot off the paper clip even with pliers, in fact the harder I pulled, the tighter the knot became,
this is a 100% knot no doubt, I would recommend this for hooks to anyone.
so should i … so should i disregard the palomar and improved clinch knot for this one. in what situation should i use this knot. also can i use this snelling knot on offset shank worm hooks with soft plastics, i mainly do bass fishing.
Going around the … Going around the hook shank makes the knot far more durable. It also helps to keep the hook in alignment with the line to assure a positive hook set.
i dont get it … i dont get it though, why around the hook instead through the hook eye. is it a normal fishing knot like uni, clinch, etc. or is there something special about it.
Indeed, very clear … Indeed, very clear video. I’ve never seen a snell done this way before. The only problem I see is you can’t do it that way if you want to snell your hook directly to your running line. But great if you are making rigs!
With the snell, I … With the snell, I feel that by having the knot directly on the shank of the hook it helps to protect the knot. The palomar however is a very good knot and way more versatile than the snell.
