Learn how to snell Fishing hooks quickly and easily using this very strong and reliable fishing knot. Snell your monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders to various types of fish hooks. Easily tie custom fishing rigs for stripers, bluefish and various other saltwater gamefish.
Hooks with turned up and turned down eyes are covered as well as straight shanked live bait hooks. Snelling my own hooks offers me the option of tying custom fishing rigs for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish and other species I target here on the waters of Long Island New York. Using this knot I am able to easily adjust the leader pound test and length to match the current fishing conditions.
Maybe Tonight Fishing Charters fishes the waters of Great South Bay and Fire Island Inlet on Long Island’s south shore for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, fluke and other local species.

I want to know what the proper knot is to use when tying a midge or nymph as a dropper fly under a dry fly. I’m talking about tying the seconded piece of tippet used to connect the dropper fly to the dry fly to the hook on the dry fly. I use 6 or 7x Floucarbon tippet so it can’t cut into itself. Right now I use a clinch knot, but it think it’s only a 90% knot and I’m looking for a 100% knot if there even is one that is supposed to be used here, if not I think I’ll use a Davy’s Knot.
I hope I wrote that so you can understand it, if you can’t then let me know so I can try something different.
I don’t think there is a 100% knot. Do you wet your kont? Wetting you knot will improve it by 5% to 10%. Are you tying it to the bend or the eye.

Attaching fly line to backing using the Albright Knot.
Years ago we would have to tie our oun loops to the back end of the fly line to attach our running line. The nail knot, tied with a tube is easier but when we expect to be into our backing with every hook up I want a knot that will slide thru the rods guide smoothly. The nail knot does this fine, but when you have a fast bone fish, or permit, salmon, or steelhead, you want a knot that won’t strip the outer coating of the fly line. Now days it seems all the fly line makers are putting a loop on the back end of the lines. Here we show you how to tie the Albright Knot.

Video demonstrates a very easy and strong fishing knot for connecting braided line to your monofilament leader. This fishing knot is very strong and is easy to tie.
The knot is very similar to the Albright, technically the Reverse Albright but with the addition of the Surgeons Loop to close off the braid instead of having the open loop
In the past I had used barrel swivels for my monofilament leaders and ran into problems with the barrel getting hung up in the rods tip and breaking the guide’s ring. This knot when finished has a very low profile and goes through the guides on my Fishing rods very cleanly.
The striped bass and bluefish I target fishing the Fire Island Inlet in New York have put this knot to the test over the past several years and I have not had the knot fail at all.
Maybe Tonight Fishing Charters fishes the waters of Great South Bay and Fire Island Inlet on Long Island’s south shore for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, fluke and other local species.
